Cui Bono

Howdy, the Uncle has returned from his wanderings and (YAY) so have Woodbury dirty politics.

As mentioned somewhere below, someone has created a "Do Not Elect Rob Weyant" website.

Gee, wonder whom it could be.

Whomever it is is so proud of his work that he paid Go Daddy extra in order to hide his identity. That way you can be certain that whatever he writes absolutely, positively must be true.

I guess Caruso has graduated from taping stuff to garbage cans and gone right to electronic garbage.

More fun facts about the web site:
If you want to post a comment you have to register (that way they'll know who you are, while making sure you can't see who they are).
And, of course, say the wrong thing about the wrong candidate and your comment will be eveaporated into the ether (where is the ether anyway? I'd love a hit).

More fun stuff to come before election day.

Count on it!

I read the the comments on the do not elect rob weyant web site and its comical. You must think very highly of Rob Weyant to think he is as important as the Governer of NY. Pete Stabile does nothing but congratulate himself about every minute happening in the Town. According to Pete, every engineer, fema rep, town board member, the governer, and yes even the President of the United States, is so very impressed with him. He is a legend in his own mind.

Anonymous said...

hey stabile didnt rob weyant save you in your own office from getting in a fight with a tax payer over a leaf bag...i heard he did

Anonymous said...

Pete, why did you pick Rob Weyant to manage the department after your forman got hurt? You personally picked him. Why would you pick someone who you say is a terrible worker? Maybe its because you told Rob you were retiring, and that he was the man for the job? But then you realized you screwed up how many years you worked and decided to run for office again? And all of a sudden, Rob is no good for the Town. So.....are you really dedicated to the Town, or you need to pad your retirement? Why are there Arkansas plates on your car? Getting ready to leave dodge?

I've been seeing some election signs around Town that say Vote Weyant, (and I certainly will). Whats interesting is that Pete Stables own employees have them on their lawn. Boy Mr. Highway Super...thats not much of a glowing review.

Anonymous said...

Theres a ridiculous website created by Pete Stable called do not elect rob weyant http://www.donotelectrobweyant.com

it seems like the Highway Super is grasping at straws. I dont know who is blogging on this site, (most likely Stable using different names), but very wrong information. I can't wait for a debate.

Perhaps the driving record of a certain incumbent should be examined a little more closely???

Gee....if Mr. Stabile was so on top of things why did he send his men home before storm was over??? and then received 4 phone calls which he slept though about alarm at highway...unfornately they had to break down to get in...way to go Pete....

The above 4 post have been reposted from previous days.

I heard that Rob is pushing for a for a primary to knock Pete off all of his endorsed lines. WE HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS PEOPLE ! DON’T WE PAY ENOUGH IN WOODBURY

The above was a post on the web site Pete Stabile created. Um....correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't Peter primarying Rob on the Independent line? As a matter of fact he is. Pot..Ketlle....black!

Anonymous said...

Has anyone seen Carlton Levine leading up to, during, or after the hurricane? Or is he up to his usual do-nothing self?

Anonymous said...

Pete Stabile has really stooped to a new low. He doesn't say why he should be Highway Super. All he does is bash the opponent and hope nobody notices how inept he really is. Its really sad.

Anonymous said...

I'm voting for Rob Weyant on September 13th.

Anonymous said...

Pete's so desperate he's putting his little orange fliers on the gas pumps at the gas stations...too bad he doesn't put THAT kind of energy into doing the job properly! Weyant for Highway Super on 9/13!!!

Anonymous said...

And Rob puts his fliers in bars. Its about getting your message out. Should Rob put more effort into his campaign and buy signs instead of using old ones

Anonymous said...

I would like to know what is so different from the people posting here. The internet gives you the ability to be anyone you want or hide in the background. Just as everyone here does.

Anonymous said...

Old signs? Do you really think those signs are from 10 years ago when George Weyant was Super? Come on people. At least you can read what the WEYANT signs say..Pete's are impossible to even read. Not effective-just like him.

Anonymous said...

How is Pete not effective? When ever theres a snow storm...Petes out plowing. He has improved roads in the town dramatically. You mean to say that when he was gone and Rob was acting as a foreman..not supervisor, but acting foreman, that he was a revolutionary? What examples can you give? I realise that saying Pete is ineffective is a blanket statement and you will no doubt give us examples, right?

Anonymous said...

I would like to know what makes rob a qualified person for the job. I reacived his mailer and to say the least I am not impressed. I have only lived in town a couple of years but I do know this. My roads are kept clean, I have no trash issues, and everything I have read from searching on the web has not impressed me with Rob. So sway me on why rob IS the right person.

Anonymous said...

Rob has management skills, Pete doesn’t
Rob has a functioning brain, Pete doesn’t
Rob has communication skills, Pete doesn’t

Anonymous said...

I have to say those are some of the worst target points ever on why someone is qualified for the job. I know where my vote will be going on primary day

Anonymous said...

Really? Pete doesn't have management skills? Pete doesn't have a brain? Seriously. He's run the department for a number of years now. He's able to communicate well enough to get money from the state. What management skill does Rob have? He washes cars on the side and runs football pools. That's his amazing business skill? Let me ask you this..does Rob pay tax on that money? Scratch that. I dont want to know.

Take it easy, Holly. Maybe we'd take you more seriously if you didn't cut and run from Woodbury.

Anonymous said...

Holly! OK...Maria

Anonymous said...

Holly! OK...Maria

Anonymous said...

You know, what I love about Woodbury is its very much a "townie" run affair when it comes to politics. The same group of people go to meetings week in and week out . The same people with their little books and their clipboards stand up and announce who they are with an air of sophistication knowing they themselves could never win so they act like Machiavelli and try to pull strings and play Gepeto. Rob is perfect for the job..young and easily swayed.

Anonymous said...

"Cut and Run Holly" has a nice ring to it.

Anonymous said...

Second to the last poster is pretty funny...think you need to re-examine Machiavelli. And you think Rob is easily swayed-take a look at Pete's history. He bad-mouths Burke behind his back, then brown-noses him to his face if it's to his benefit...Pete has learned to play the political game of self-serving manipulation better than anyone I've seen. Guess he learned from Ralph's playbook. Time for a fresh face-I'm giving Weyant his chance.

Anonymous said...

It's nice to see you still keep Holly in your heart even after all these years. Now you posted..

"And you think Rob is easily swayed-take a look at Pete's history. He bad-mouths Burke behind his back, then brown-noses him to his face if it's to his benefit.."

I have a problem with that. How is Rob being easily swayed the same as Pete's history as a bad mouther? It doesnt make sense? Rob brown noses the Mayor and in fact came out against John Burke when they had somewhat of a "Sick Out" Which is a tactic employed when in the future you dont want to be official a strike leader. Regardless..

And are we to believe that Rob isnt learning or being helped from his town/village cronies..some of who work for both which I dont get.

Im not giving Rob a chance.

Anonymous said...

I have to say that from all of the information I have read, Rob is not the person I want for a highway super. There is not one definitive answer to any of my questions as why he should be. But when you read and ask about the current super the information and answers are in plain site. The intelligent people in town will vote with the hard facts in mind and not the hearsay postings and ramblings of people that are on Robs side. If the current super is so bad where is the proof. I want to see cold hard facts not this he said she said behind his back nonsense.

John Jones runs the Highway Department, Pete doesn’t

Anonymous said...

So why vote for Rob. If John Jones is the guy then everything Rob says is a Lie

Anonymous said...

John is the foreman. Pete is the superintendent. When George ran the department, are you saying he didnt do anything, it was all John Jones. Don't take this as a slight again John Jones. I dont knock John, he is a good man and a hard worker.

It certainly sounds like no one has any doubt how they'll be voting. No one here is going to change any other commenters mind, but if ragging on each other's candidate makes you all happy, go to it.

I'm a registered D so I don't even get a vote.

Emjoy!

jonathan swiller said...

Or "enjoy" if you prefer.

Anonymous said...

I don't care what anyone says. Pete has done a lot for this town. Whether you like it or not he's very effective and very good his job.

Anonymous said...

You want some fact as to why Pete is an ineffective boss? OK. For one thing, hes afraid of his own men. He kowtows to anyone that confronts him. He has to ask John Burke what he should do because hes afraid of him too. He asks permission to pave roads, and is told what he can do. When something goes wrong, he blames other people. If things go well, he takes all the credit, when its someone else who actually did the work. As far as getting government funds, the town has been getting funds long before Pete showed up. All you do is apply. A leader commands respect and gives respect. He does neither.

JOHN said...

I HAVE BEEN WITH THE HIGHWAY DEPT. FOR 30 YEARS AND PETE WILL TELL YOU THAT I RUN THE DAY TO DAY OPRATIONS, AS WELL AS ASSIGN THE WORK FOR THE MEN EACH DAY. PLEASE DO NOT BRING MY NAME INTO THIS!

jonathan swiller said...

John
do you feel able to tell us how you'll vote ?.

Anonymous said...

1. Is he really afraid of his own men. I HIGHLY doubt that. Does he kowtow to Burke? Maybe what you percieve is Pete asking the town supervisor...you know..the real leader of our community..his opinion.

2. As for government funding, we have not gotten it on the level that Pete has done. Look at what he was able to get for Park Ave and other places a while back. His predecessor never went after them.

3. Leave Mr. Jones alone. Much like Rob, regardless of the outcome of the election, he will still have a job and have to work with that person. His opinion is his own

Anonymous said...

Vote for Pete now and in two years, if Rob is as good as he says, vote for Rob in two years. If you don't vote for Rob now, he will still have a job.

If you vote for Rob now then Pete will NOT have a job. Do you really want to punish him because he went to Afghanistan to serve his county?
He doesn't deserve to be stabbed in the back by the guy he put in charge while he was in Afghanistan.

Anonymous said...

Vote for Pete because he wants a bigger pension!

Sounds snarky, but that's actually what he's telling people.

Anonymous said...

Vote For Rob! Queenan wants control!

Anonymous said...

Who said anything about punishing Pete for going to Afghanistan? What a stupid remark. Pete was asked if he was going to run again. He said NO, i'm moving to Arkansas. He told this to everyone. He said hes through with this town, and he wants to move. His inability to count to ten, is why he is running again.

Anonymous said...

The bottom line is Pete has said more than once that he was going to retire. This time, due to his inability to make up his mind and stick to it, Pete has caused collateral damage in that Rob was lead to believe that by stepping up as asked and running the department, HE would have the opportunity to run for Pete's VACATED position. Pete lead everyone to believe that he was retiring when he returned from duty-and in doing so, Rob sold his home, took a huge financial loss, and moved back to Woodbury in order to run for the position. In today's economy, does anyone really think Rob would have taken such a financial loss unless he truly believed in what Pete had said??? No, after being so very deceitful, Pete Stabile does NOT deserve to continue as Highway Super. And as a side note, each year Pete has come up for re-election, one of his OWN men has contemplated running against him. Does that sound like Pete has leadership ability?? I think not!!

Anonymous said...

How can you be so factually inaccurate and yet post on this page is beyond me!

First off, Rob sold his home to run position that HE WAS NOT QUALIFIED FOR DUE TO RESIDENCY. If he sold his house to run for a position which in itself is not a sure thing then he's foolish. As for the great fiancial loss, that is not true either. Houses sold and bought are public record which are easily attainable. Even if Pete left the job, why would Rob believe he would'nt have anyone rto run against? The fact is, many of our local townie politicians want to go DPW. This is an appointed position. They feel their friend Rob would be a better fit because he can be controlled. Now while that position is appointed and not voted, the other positions, such as councilman, mayor, clerk, so are not. There may be one day when a new regime runs the town and the DPW head could be replaced with their own guy. Rob would be out.

Now, when on leave from Afghanistan, Pete has said he may retire. You make it seem as if Pete signed a contract with Rob. Guess what..he didn't. When Pete was home from a war zone, and yes, get it straight, a war zone, he made statements while under stress. If you 've never been in a war zone don't comment.

Lastly, This is the only time Pete has ever run against one of his employees. I would like you to list the employees Pete has run against but you wouldnt be able to answer it. He ran against a write in candidate in 2009...unopposed in 2007 and so on. He ran against Doug Labar when they were both vying for the position from George Weyant.

Please, you're hurting Rob with your posts.

Anonymous said...

Rob was not foolish selling his home for a position he "may not" win this year (although I am sure he will win). He has a family with 2 children, one who started Kindergarten this fall. He wanted to be established in this town, this year, for his family's sake. He didn't want to pull his child/children out of another district to move after they started school. So whether Rob wins or loses, this year-he can hope to run 2 yrs or 4 yrs for now-whatever be it, and he won't have to make his children start in a new place. MW is a great district and I am sure he is proud to be here (and proud of his decision to move) no matter what the outcome.

Anonymous said...

MW is a great place, but the poster before me eluded that Rob sold his house because of the election. ..which is the reason he did so. Otherwise I'm sure Monroe is a little cheaper than woodbury if that's the reason.

Anonymous said...

To the blogger wrote on 4:52 PM, September 10, 2011. I don't know who you are, and thats fine, but are you telling me that you were in on every conversation that Pete Stabile had with regard to retiring? Each time he told someone he was retiring, you were there? Ask any board member, Village or Town, ask his own men, ask John burke. Ask the Mayor. All were told "I AM RETIRING". He didn't say this under stress! It was his montra. And true to form, Pete has lied about saying it. You know when Pete stabile is lying? When his lips are moving.

Anonymous said...

As for Monroe being cheaper than Woodbury-had he moved to Monroe, he could never even have the chance of running here in Woodbury. I have an idea, stop worrying about Rob and his family, he is here now. Find something better to do than post on a political website at 10:30 on a Saturday night.

Anonymous said...

Are you serious? I dont care if Rob moves to Timbuktu. But don't try to spin my answers. And by the way...Pete can change his mind!

Anonymous said...

Who would ever think a highway super election would be so nasty?

Even if Pete did say he was going to retire and now he wants two more years, so what? Does this hurt Rob? No, he will still have a job.

If Rob moved here just to run for office, it makes me think of Hillary Clinton who moved to NY only to run for office.

The poster who said that Queenan wants control is absolutely right.
Rob is the puppet of Mayor Mike and his little soldier Maria and maybe, just maybe the Mayor has plans to get the highway somehow controlled by the village and wants his boy in there.

Mike and Maria used to be friends with Pete and now they are his enemies. Watch out Rob, they may do the same thing to you if you don't do what youre told!

Anonymous said...

I notice that no one has posted on Pete Stabile's ridiculous web site. Rumor has it he got spanked by his "boss" John Burke for creating it. Pete, does he run your life too? I thought it was just the Highway Dept. lol

Anonymous said...

Does anyone have any proof of who actually owns that site? how do we know it is not any of Robs puppeteers running it. that's all this town has is speculation and rumors lets get some facts people.

Anonymous said...

Who are Rob's puppeteers? Who are Pete's?

Anonymous said...

I don't see anything wrong with Pete's site. Rob's people are probably upset that Rob joked about the hurricane that damaged a lot of the town on Facebook. I could see where that would upset him

Anonymous said...

exactly, the Rob supporters here are claiming Pete is only running again for himself, but that face book post Rob made shows he is self centered and he cares nothing about the town he lives in or will possibly serve

Anonymous said...

no one thought that hurricane would hit us like that. give up on the facebook post. its not like he said it after-he joked with some friends before hand...as we all do..did he say anything afterwards? no. he was just as sad as all of us. so grow up and stop looking for ways to make him look bad.

Anonymous said...

Everybody is asking for the facts. Here are the facts. Everything on the Do Not Elect Rob site is true. Let Rob deny it. As for Rob saving Pete in Petes' office, yes that is true. The man who came in verbally threatened Pete and the whole department and Rob happened to be there and stepped in.

As for the post on Sept. 3 3:43pm regarding Pete primaring Rob on the Independent line. Pete was already endoresed by the County Independents. Mr. Palermo disapproved of Pete being endorsed by the Orange County Independence Party and challeneged the head of the county party. Palermo was told that he can put whoever he wants to put up and Pete was given permission to primary on that line by the county chairman.

And whats wrong with Pete meeting with, agreeing, or arguing with John Burke. First off, I think thats an admirable thing. They both work hard to help the town and benefit us! People dont always have to agree or be on the same side all the time. There is always going to be conflicting ideas from time to time, but they always come to a compromise to better the town. Many a time I have heard them arguing behind closed doors but when they emerged they were on the same the playbook.

As for Pete padding his pension, didnt Uncle George do the same thing ten years back when Pete wanted to run. George asked him to step aside for one more term to help his pension which Pete did. Then, the next election, George decided to run and not retire. SO whats the difference between the two.

Pete's retirement comes out of the state pension fund and not from the town taxes. Pete also doesnt take ANY PAID MEDICAL BENEFITS and does not take a buy out. He also, if I'm correct will be getting a pension from the military. Do you mean to say that these next two years would pad his pension that much?

As for pay, when Pete went to serve his country in Afghanistan he forgoed 6 months of his salary. Which , under NYS law, he was not required to.

And little known fact, Pete isnt running to pad his pension. On the contrary, Pete with his own money, bought his time back.

In the 30+ years that Pete has lived in this town, he has been nothing but community minded. He has been on many commitees throughout the years and his public record history is widely known by all. Rob moved back to Woodbury six months ago and the only claim to fame is that he joined the Woodbury Mens Association and started Woodbury Cleanup day.

And finally, does anyone know if Maria is working the primary for the board of elections on Tuesday? Tell me thats not a MAJOR conflict of interest being she is Rob's tresaurer. Does the Board of Elections know this? I hope someone will be watching that! And speaking of Maria, didnt Pete go to bat for you with the state when you had problems being washed out by Brigadoon.

These are the facts...dispute them if you can.

Anonymous said...

Last time I checked, I still pay state taxes so Pete not getting his pension from the Town of Woodbury is irrelevant.

But that's not the point. The point is that Pete is telling people he's running for 2 more years because of his pension. You run for office to serve the community, NOT for a pension. We already have a state senator and assemblywoman doing that.

Anonymous said...

All losers on here. Its getting funny.

Anonymous said...

we all know Rob is doing this for revenge for his uncle, the former highway super.

And we all know that Maria is a backstabber with no sense of decency. And she is not very good at what she does. Just watch the planning board meetings.

Anonymous said...

Maria probably is working the polls on election day. Do you think she will not register votes for Pete? I don't think she has the capability as an election inspector. However; if people know that she is Rob's campaign manager, (and it seems like everyone knows) then her mere presence could be seen as "electioneering" and as a conflict. But this is woodbury, who cares about conflicts of interest? hahahahaha

Anonymous said...

Boy the paranoia is palpable. Pete must be petrified. That long winded blog had alot of words, but said nothing. You say "how unfair of Rob to not step aside and let Pete get two more years. He has the right to change his mind". Then you say "Pete ran when George Weyant changed his mind, but that was ok. Pete can change his mind, but George Weyant isn't allowed to? Which is it? Being an elected official, thats the chance you take. No one told Pete this was a life long job. VOTE WEYANT September 13th.

Anonymous said...

VOTE For Pete Rob needs to mature a little

I think if you read the earlier post correctly. ..Pete stepped aside for George. Then when the next election came around.

And by the way, if we're all losers here posting then that includes you. So welcome!

VOTE WEYANT-this town needs some young blood.
