City Mouse, Country Mouse

There's a five way battle for the chance to go against Nan Haywort, who holds the seat in the 19th Congressional District, which is about to become the 18th Congressional District (is that a promotion?).

There's Duane Jackson of Buchanan; Thomas Wilson, Mayor of Tuxedo Park; Matt Alexander, Mayor of Wappingers Falls; Cortlandt Councilman Richard Becker and former White House aide under President Bill Clinton, Sean Patrick Maloney, until recently of New York City, but now of Cold Spring.

Maloney seems to have a lot of money - enough to pay for endless robo-calls featuring his heavy hitter friends (and three names to his opponents two apiece). He also, according to a few local Democratic officials, seems to have absolutely no knowledge of, or interest in, local problems.

Those same local folks have been lining up behind Becker, who, they say would acdtually represent the district and not simply the party. He would also make the November contest Doctor vs Doctor.

As to Jackson, Wilson, and Alexander, go know?

Any of you have any ideas?

Hey Uncle,
Why is the entire town board in agreement to go out of the county to hire a new police chief effective July 2nd?

Curious Cousin

I've heard it wasn't unanimous. Fact is, Curious Cousin, is that neither you nor I knows what went on behind closed doors in making the decision.

Answer is three words. Control, control and control.

Anonymous said...

Isn't that one word?

No one well ever know what the vote was because it was never voted on in public. Someone should ask Burke at the next meeting.

Anonymous said...

I find it curious that Burke has not admitted to the hire as if yet.

Good times coming at town board meeting Monday July 2.

I'll make popcorn. Save me a seat

Which town board member(s) is not telling the truth and leaking information from behind closed door meetings?

Was the decision 3 to 2 or was it 4 to 1 in favor of going out of the county to select the new police chief?

Where is the fly that was in the room to tell us what really happened?

Can the residents of Woodbury trust the town board members?

They (the Town Board) have exercised their right to appoint the new Police Chief. Once again they have shown that they do what they want, not what is right for the Town or the residents. Remember this in November of 2013. Vote them out and send a message, no more dictatorship, no more board members just there for the health benefits, no more secret deals formed by and for the republicrats of Woodbury. Where is the Village Board during this? And before you say they have no control, yes they do. They have the right to form and appoint a police commission. This would handcuff the private agenda Town Board.

I only hope that it is the very members of the board that SUFFER for this stupid decision!

Anonymous said...

How can you call it stupid when this person has not even started the job? So all the cops in town are made because one of their boys did not get the job. Get over it and welcome to the real world.

Anonymous said...

Uncle Betty for police chief.

Anonymous said...

Cops are made? Learn how to spell, jackass!

Anonymous said...

The real world? Yes, it's a world where a lunch lady, an insurance guy, a benefit needing old guy, a power monger and a kid are put in a place of power to make a stupid decision. Oh yes, and jackasses can't spell.

To the imbecile that said this is the way the "real world", do you not realize how these things work? If you join the military, police, fire department and so forth, you expect and are entitled to move up the rank if you do a good job.

This is a huge "Screw you." and a giant middle finger to Artie, Cliff and every other police officer in Woodbury. How do you justify bypassing a local officer with FBI training? Who was groomed by Bobby to replace him?

This board should be ashamed of themselves and their constant bashing and harsh treatment of the WPD needs to stop. They've done nothing but make their lives difficult. I wish it were legal for the WPD to ignore any 911 assistance to the Town Board members and anyone else who supports this decision.

They're all burying themselves, especially Skoufis who is now just a moronic politician like the rest if he votes yes.

Shit hits the an in 2013.

Apologies, make that the shit'll hit the fan* in 2013.

Picture this, two policemen are working. They are tied up with arrests. The chief is the only one available, you dial 911 because someone is trying to break into your home. I hope you own a gun, because the time it takes for him to look up your address on his map, could be the difference between the police arriving to help in time, or you having to save yourself.

Don't you clowns have anything better to do?

Anonymous said...

promises

Anonymous said...

So it makes us clowns to care about decisions the elected people make?

Sorry but that's how it works. Shut up and let people post their views and concerns.

Anonymous said...

Clowns? Ouch, me thinks a board member or board member's family member is not happy with the postings.
