Gee.The OCEAN Fund Raising Drive has passed the $100 mark.
After only two weeks of begging and nagging four people in Woodbury have contributed to keep OCEAN going.

Mindy, along with Bob Fromaget, Shelby Young, Nanci Binder and I were the founding Board members of SOCA At Work and then OCEAN.
When Mindy took on some P.R. work that she felt might be construed as a conflict of interest she chose to leave the board, but continued to volunteer as our bookkeeper.
She has worked hard to protect Woodbury and Orange County.
The idea that certain people, who have done nothing of value for our community, hide in the shadows as anonymous snipers and make snide comments about the people who actually work to make things better is both disgusting and unsurprising.
I commend the Pieman on expressing his disapproval without resorting to phrases such as "a-hole."
It's nice to see that you can commend yourself.
Lets do a contest for the next name of your group .. and do a lottery as to the date of your next name change . You could raise plenty of moolaa !!
I ran one last year. The Pieman, who apparently is me, wasn't thrilled.

If you don't think that SOCA and OCEAN have had any influence on the politics and general well-being of Woodbury for the past four years, you are obviously living on Mars!
I know that the people in this Town were all ready to vote no against the Village until Swiller flopped sides. I guess I should thank you for that huh?
Now that's political influenece! Wow. The people were going to vote the village down until Swiller announced that he was backing off telling people which way to vote and that caused the village to pass by better than 4 to 1? I'm impressed.
Oh I believe those two little have influence on Woodbury politics. It's just all bad.

Proposed $1.7M budget hearing tonight

Woodbury - The newly formed Village of Woodbury will hold a public hearing on a proposed $1.7 million budget tonight.
Taxpayers will foot $841,070 of the total municipal budget. That’s about $144 for a home assessed at $100,000. Included in that amount are the salaries of Mayor Stephanie Berean-Weeks, who will receive $12,000 a year, and Village Clerk Desiree Potvin, who will receive $24,000.
The meeting will be held at 7:15 p.m. at the Woodbury Fire Department on Route 32.
So where did the $3 million that was mentioned by a "know-it-all" in a different thread come from??

The Village is trying to take the Towns tax revenue to off set their budget. When they finally realize that they can't do that, you will see a much different number. And if they do take the Towns tax revenue, the Town budget will go up. So you tell me, whats the difference. Either the Town of Village or both will go up. Its simple math.
So the Mayor will earn 12,000. a year. And the file clerk will earn 24,000. a year. Does anyone else see a problem with this? Desiree agreed to be Village Clerk and Village Treasurer, at a combined salary of 8,000.00 a year. What happened? How much does she get for being the Tresurer?
I hope all you complainers plan on attending the Village budget meeting tonight to air your "concerns".

I want to know why the village Board appointed Carol Herb to be Village Tax collector, and will pay her 11,000.00, when no other Village in Orange County has one. Desiree is getting a salary to do this very job! Why is her mother getting paid $11,000.00 to do it. Thats what you were hired for Desiree, remember. If you can't handle the work load, then quit. If you need assistants to do a job that all other Village treasurers do than thats too bad. Her salary for Village Clerk and Treasurer was supposed to be 8,000.00 total. WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT DESIREE? Now we will pay a total of 35,000.00 to the Herbs, for doing a job that every other Village treasurer in the county does. It amazes me how this can happen!
And tell me how in 8 hours Desiree can do two full time jobs without them overlapping. I'm sorry 24,000. is a full time salary for many people. This is a crock of sh**. The Village Board has some explaining to do.
