Should we be expecting an appointment during next week's board meeting?

Anonymous said...

It will either be Skoufis, who has recently been attending both Town & Village Board meetings or Palermo (everybody's new best friend). My money is on Skoufis since he's turned into the Democratic committee's newest cash cow.

Anonymous said...

How much cash are we talking about that he's raised?

Anonymous said...

I heard he's got plenty and has combined his grad party into a fundraiser for the Dems!

Anonymous said...

I heard that he has wings and will fly over the sleezebag Palermo with a smile on his face.

Seriously, he probably is a nice kid with some great ideas, but he lacks any experience in the community and life in general, to get my vote. Instead of trying to start out on the town board, maybe he should volunteer for a few commiittees first to get an idea of what's going on, instead of just moving back into Woodbury thinking he can take over.

Palermo, Burke. Ralph, James,
What a lack of choices we have.
But this is what happens when no one wants to get involved!

Anonymous said...

Get involved? In this town and village? Can you blame any decent person for NOT wanting to get involved? Or blame good people that were involved from throwing their hands up and not get involved anymore? Any decent person gets cut down, threatened, and life in general made a living hell when they try to do right. We could make a large list of good people who have come and gone from Woodbury politics over the years. This James Skoufis kid has no idea what he is in for. Good Luck!!

I'm willing to give Skoufis a fair shake and see what he has to say before just dismissing him for lacking experience (which I don't even know is true).

Anonymous said...

So, if the Dems are backing Burke,Skoufis and Palermo who are the Reps running in opposition? Or have Ralph & Manny decided that voters don't need a choice?

Anonymous said...

There are no republicans so far. So that leaves us with two corrupt people and one that is, no matter what the last poster says, very inexperienced in Woodbury.

Lotsa luck you jerks!

Anonymous said...

I just can't believe this town/village has become so complacent as to allow Palermo to walk back onto the board and to allow Burke to keep ruling with his iron-fist. You mean to say that the Republican Club can't find anyone to run either? How very sad.

Anonymous said...

I am shocked that Geri is not running.
I would support her again as would many of us. I guess the poster who said the good ones leave is right.

Anonymous said...

I nominate Sandy Capriglione. She would be very god on the toen board and she at least is honest.

Anonymous said...

Sandy twists the truth and is ill informed.

Another bad trait is her inability to control her anger. She showed it at the debate. why become so angry over an extension of time?
She is constantly on the attack.
People in the village didn't vote for her because they reject people like Sandy,John Smith and Robin Crouse.
Another example is Theresa Budich loss from the school board.. People are tired of the negativism. It's O.K. to disagree, but have some positive helpful suggestions to back it up.

Anonymous said...

You can't put Theresa Budich in the same category as Capriglione, Crouse & Smith! Budich has served our community well. I have a feeling "The Taxpayer" will miss her. Wait till the TEACHERS SALARY INCREASES begin to SHOW UP IN YOUR tax bill next year! They only work 180 days. How many classes do they teach a day?

Although Newton's third law pertains to motion- it also seems to apply to politics in Woodbury. However, when one opposes the sitting boards &/or political parties & their actions, they are labled here on this site as "sneaky, nasty, ill-informed, attacking, vicious" etc. Thank goodness we live in a country where those who question or oppose may do so freely without persecution (outside of this website of course). And with that, on this Memorial Day weekend we should all pause to give thanks to those who have served our country, thus allowing those freedoms to continue.

Questioning, getting people to actually think, offering different opinions or information- all part of living in a Democratic society. Would any of us really want it any other way? There will always be discussion, disagreement and debate, and if it ever stops, then we are all in big trouble.

Anonymous said...

Although i agree with the last poster one of the problems I see is that some members of the public that disagree with the boards are ill informed. Perhaps they should do some research before they open their mouths.

Offering suggestions on important issues is certainly welcome in any town/village and even a breath of fresh air, however i and many more haven't seen that. Instead you see John smith, Sandy, Robin etc getting up and actually twisting things and thinking they are the whistle blowers of some sort.

Sadly no one sees it that way except them and their increasingly small group of angry residents. Those days are over and my hat off to Burke,Queenan and other board members who actually stand up to the nonsense.

Anonymous said...

Are we watching the same meetings? How is asking questions being ill informed? Isn't that why you ask questions, to get information? That's all I've seen those people that you list do- ask questions. What do you mean whistle blowers? What do you mean by angry?Maybe I am just out of your loop, but I can't figure out what your trying to say.

Anonymous said...

to 7:11 AM, May 24, 2009 poster i think you need to do your own research! You ever see how many FOILS Robin has filed to get information and do research? Why don't you FOIL her FOILS if you don't know.

Anonymous said...

i am sure Robin foils her little heart out, but that makes her even more scary then I thought.

When you have information in front of you and still get it wrong then what is the purpose of wasting your time and money to foil....

Anonymous said...

Please be specific- exactly what did she get wrong?

After watching the last Town Bd meeting on TV I saw two parks commissioners get up and still raise questions about the wall and size of the project-but I thought before the vote they were in agreement with it?? Why did the board members continue to say they hope and pray it will work? The engineer even said that all the cracks in the wall won't be taken care of but he thinks it will work. And why did Bo have the cost of running the filtration system SO wrong- he said something like $1800 a month, and the engineer said no, it would be like $20,000 for the season-more and more I think those people that questioned the project were on the right track and should have quesioned even more about this money pit!

I agree 10:17am poster - the more they tell us the more questions there are. Carlton Levine didn't look to happy when Bo Haviland was asking questions. In fact, he was writing notes to John Burke and then said something to Haviland after he finished speaking.

I'm very happy we have people like Mrs. Crouse, Mrs. Caprig (sp?), and Mr. Smith. Mr. Ungerer seems to have changed his opinion since he wrote his letter in the paper but I'm glad he is finally telling them to slow down and he's asking questions, too.

The kid sure shook a lot of hands at the parade yesterday.

Anonymous said...

You mean Mr. Skoufis? Very confident young man.

Just old fashion said...

Disrespectful to all veterans to shake hands and step out of line during the Memorial Day Parade. The parade is suppose to be a solemn salute to honor and remember all the men and women who have served their country.

During this parade politics should have been left at home.

Anonymous said...

Really? It's not like he was handing out literature and buttons - he was going over to people and introducing himself. How is that at all disrespectful to anyone? That's not even to mention he was at the ceremony at the end of the parade and paid respects like everyone else. Were you there?

I'm sure it was OK for Nancy Calhoun to drive around with a sign outside of her car though, right? Maybe if Skoufis was throwing around candy it would've been OK by you...

Get off your high horse and stop with the politically-motivated attacks.

Anonymous said...

Wow this site really sucks! I liked it better when you were putting down Ralph and calling Swiller a douchebag!! Lets go back to the name calling it's so much more fun!

Anonymous said...

James was very respectful during the parade. And he wasn't the only one politicking- the Woodbury Democratic Committee was there with a BIG sign! Why don't you complain about that?

Anonymous said...

Although young, I hope James remains true to himself and an independent thinker- doesn't need the Democratic committee's skewed viewpoints weighing him down.

James is backed by the Democrats, hopefully he doesn't fall for their dirty tricks.

crouse, capriglione and smith got their referendum for FUNDING. ungerer has been asking questions all along. as i recall, his position has always been to proceed with caution. other parks commissioners have agreed with him. the parks commission has no real power. the project is in the town board's hands. crouse and party might have done better to have a referendum on the PROJECT and they might have fared better if they had waited till the second engineer's report was in. everything here is political and everything political has a time frame and everything political is suspect. the pond/pool has been closed for 2 years. what's the rush now?

Anonymous said...

To the last poster-you really should get your facts straights!

To the last poster-you really should get your facts straight!

James appears to have the support of many fellow M-W classmates, so if they get out and vote, he could draw some large numbers on his own. He has been working hard and has his own website and facebook page, both of which outline his education and political beliefs. Like the other posters however, I do hope he believes in himself enough to shed the Woodbury Democratic committee leaders, as they have nothing to offer him but antiquated, narrow-minded views and alot of scandal.

Anonymous said...

His mother also had a sizable set of clients in the area that went to her dance school...James, though as you said, has been working hard, does indeed start with a pretty large base of supporters.

Anonymous said...

just because someone works hard doesnt mean they are qualified.
And if his views are misguided then its even worse.

If the Reps don't put anyone up, it won't matter if he believes the the moon is made of cheese, he'll be in anyway!

What facts are not straight?

ASK FORMER SPV CONROY TO TELL YOU WHAT SHE KNOWS ABOUT PELERMO. ASK HER ABOUT THE ABUSE SHE RECEIVED FROM HIM WHEN SHE WAS PLANNING BOARD CHAIRWOMAN.

Anonymous said...

Palermo is only out for himself, and thanks to the spineless Republican committee, he'll walk right back into office. YUCKO!

Anonymous said...

More than likely the abuse Conroy got was justified.

Thanks, Frank, for posting
