King Eddie and Our Water

Fron the Pieman:

The Orange County Water Authority is proposing to amend its Water Master Plan into the County Comprehensive Plan.

Some of us are concerned that this may give the County the ability to over-rule the Home Rule of towns and villages and take over municipal water resources.

On Monday, June 14th, there will be a public hearing on this at 7 PM at the Central Valley Elementary School.

Please come.

After reading the article on the shit and the harriman sewage plant it made me think, has anyone seen Kelemen (that's with three e's) around, wasn't he going to show up at all the meeting and create problems for everyone...yea that's what i thought, Spark up another dobie John.

Oh sorry thats two o's in doobie..just like the two o's you laid in the last two elections you ran in!! ha ha ha ha!

Idiot.

Kelemen doesm't need to go to any meetings to cause trouble for anyone. Both boards have ran this village and town into the ground. Millions of dollars wasted on a pond project that the builders have said will probably still have seepage problems even after this latest round of repairs, and on the village side an average of 20 percent tax increase on village taxpayers. Yup, their doing a fine job.

I'm new here (and to town)...could someone give me a run-down of who's who on the two boards?

Anonymous said...

yeh, you're new and couldn't find out anything about the two boards, but you could find uncle betty. right!

Anonymous said...

So who has the info about the pond/pool leaking? I've heard nothing from the Town board on that matter, but then again they don't seem to discuss anything of any real importance in front of the public/camera anyway.

Anonymous said...

Sadly its true....the pond leaks, and the repairs will be devistating!!! from what I hear the only way to fix it is to drain the pond and rip out the bottom...It is leaking through some sort of drains that are on the bottom...

If what you say is true, where does that leave us and the almost $3 million that has been poured into that "black hole"??? When is enough enough...will Burke ever say UNCLE???

Anonymous said...

Looks like the town board is trying to hide the fact that there is a problem with the pond....wait till they ask for more money to fix it again...looks like we are stuck paying even more money for the sh--hole!!!

Anonymous said...

Why don't those who have knowledge of this problem go public with it and force the board to answer to the residents. Better yet, why not ask the board and Dennis Lindsay at the next Thursday night meeting and see what they all say?

Looks like the gloves are already off Nancy v. Roxanne.

Agree that if there are problems with the pond that it should be discussed publicly. But then since Mr. Open Government Burke has taken office, the number of closed and executive sessions have increased beyond his predecessors whom he used to criticize for not having an "open" government.

And where is that Carol Mullooly or however the last name is spelled who used to come to all the televised meetings and constanly criticize the pre-Burke board on everything and kept calling for accountabiility. Oh, forgot. That was really only about getting her man Burke elected so accountabilit is no longer important. Imagine if Conroy, Gerri and Lorraine were still on the board---she would be at every meeting calling for accountability on the pond and where was the money going? Maybe Conroy, Gerri and Lorraine were correct in not rushing into repairs costing millions until they knew if it was going to work.

And as long as Burke has no opponents, thanks to his pal Caruso who controls the Republican party and strongly influences both the Conservative and Democratic parties in Woodbury, there will not be open government, discussions of matters of substance before the public or Carol's chorus for accountability that is strangely off-key or silent.

Do hope the pond works for the taxpayer's sake who have poured so much money into this project.

I was at the pool this afternoon and it looks fine. There were a lot of happy people splashing in the water and getting soaked under the aerating fountains. Where's the leak? The Board of Health didn't seem to have a problem with it.

Anonymous said...

The leak is under the main drain that circulates water back through the filtration system. And yes,it is a large leak. They are not able to maintain the water level without constantly refilling it. To adequately repair, the pond/pool will nee to be drained and the entire section near the drain dug up and rebuilt.

"They are not able to maintain the water level without constantly refilling it." How much does that cost to keep doing?? Does that come under the Park's budget?? How much is their budget anyway? Was this due to faulty construction? If so why not go after the contractor, since he MUST have insurance, right?????

Is anyone on our town board sane?

Anonymous said...

I think that James might be sane. He just didn't know what he was joining when he ran for the board.

Anonymous said...

Well, all you smarty pants out there, just who will run against Bruke next year. We don't have any competent people considering a run. All the good ones are not going to bother to run because of the mullolys of theworld

Anonymous said...

Is Burke going to run next year? Some possible candidates if he does:

Sheila, Gerri, Lorraine, Mike Q, Tom Flood, Tim Egan

If he doesn't run you can also throw in Carlton, Frank, Bo, and James in the mix as well as any number of Ralphlings.

God help us if the Bald Eagle ever becomes supervisor...

So why didnt the engineer think about what heavy rain and run-off would do to the clarity of the water? Again, no accountability as far as Lindsey goes. If the POND/POOL is closed then staff there doesn't get paid. And if there are water restrictions, then how much EXTRA water is it taking to refill the pool after emptying it to get the dirt out and the water clear again? Guess these questions will never be answered, at least not by the current Town Board or their "experts" (cough, cough, choke)!

Anonymous said...

The pool doesn't have to emptied to clean it. There are underwater vacuums that can do that job. You obviously don't own a pool do you?

Anonymous said...

Why dont YOU check with buildings and grounds dept and see exactly how they remedied the situation. Looks like black garbage bags are being used as a temp fix to stop the mud. thats what you get for a few million dollars i guess.

Anonymous said...

Since YOU said "looks like", it's apparent you haven't checked with Buildings and Grounds either Sport.

does anyone realize the the pond had it problems all along because it is BUILT ON A SPRING? If they were spending so much money on it they should have moved it to another spot!!!!

Anonymous said...

The "spot" is a)originally a natural small pond in which the town many years ago put in a hard surface and b)the land was donated to the town at that "spot"; not a different spot.

Anonymous said...

Move it over to another spot on the property you dope!

Anonymous said...

Same spring .... Idiot!

I think the suugestion was wise if they had actually built an Olympic size pool up on the Rez property. Was there anything in the original Charter for the pond property that prevents the Town from selling that property? If not, sell prop to school district and purchase more recreational land adjacent to the Rez from Woodbury Field & Stream.

Anonymous said...

Based on a) the vote that authorized the town to input more money into the pond and b)the daily attendance vs. the res, it looks like a hell of lot of people in this community disagree with you.
