A Reverie On Ralph

That dear, dear Ralph.

That small, grey man, with small, grey desires; slightly bent physically, spiritually somewhat more so.

What have you gotten up to now?

We have just heard from the Pieman that the councilmen's debate, sparsely attended though it may have been, almost didn't take place at all.

It seems that Ralph contacted the charming and delightful Ms Kathy Finnerty at the school business office to object to the use of the elementary school auditorium.

Why would Ralph choose to do such a thing?

Perhaps his reflexive desire to keep the electorate ignorant of anything and everything got the better of him.

After all Ralph, rats and roaches all do their best work in the dark.

But perhaps I am too harsh.

Is it Ralph's fault that he is so unlovable and thus so unloved?

Probably it is.

But we must all do what we can to give him one more shot at redemption.

The next time that you see Ralph, give him a hug, lean in close and whisper "God loves you, even if no-one else can."

Beg to differ with you Unc-Ralph has to be flying high these days- he got his girl in office and kept Big John from having to muster a campaign, so it looks like he's two for two!

You all need to worry about the people in the Village government not the town. These are the ones that control the zoning.

Anonymous said...

That's true and the village government doesn't seem to have a grasp on zoning. Ever listen to the mayor talk about the comprehensive plan?

Has the NY State Dept of State and the Local Government Efficiency program taken a look at merging the Town & the Village? They've recommended it for New paltz, so why not Woodbury? The powers that be in the T and V are depending on the likes of double-dippers Calhoun & Larkin to put us back together, and it goes nowhere. Maybe the newbies on the Town Board should recommend it be looked into.

Great idea! but maybe more than the newbies ought to try

The difference with merging the Town and Village of New Paltz is that there isn't a KJ next door.

There's a Village of Woodbury to prevent a Village of KJ II. State law doesn't allow you to "merge" the two Woodburys without giving up that difference. The request sent up to Albany asked to change state law allowing Woodbury to consolidate without giving up that aspect.

Those are the facts - you can choose whether to ignore them or not.

Anonymous said...

Having a village does not add extra protection against KJ. They can still annex territory from Woodbury.

The governments of Woodbury knew that the "consolidation" request would fail. That was just a ploy to say "see we are trying to lower your taxes". Have you looked at your village tax bill lately?

The "consolidation" issue would not be an issue if the idiots who drew up the village boundaries (following the fire district lines) knew what they were doing. We could be "co-terminous" if it wasn't for the Village of Harriman part that is in Woodbury. Those idiots didn't think of that.

You can thank those idiots who started this whole village thing in the first place and the current village board for your high taxes.

Oh yeah! Wasn't the current village mayor part of the whole make the village of woodbury thing?

So what can you really say that is good about the village?

Anonymous said...

They can still annex but they cannot create a village within the town any longer.

There IS some level of protection, just not the blanket protection that Caruso, Burke, et al sold in their package of lies.

Don't forget to add Queenan to that bag of lies. He and his wife helped get those petitions signed, and he promoted it until the truth started coming out and then he backed off, only to jump on baord again when he wanted to be Mayor.

funny how people forget! If you looked at Mike's history and then looked at what is happening now you might thinks that he planned it all along.
But I don't thinks he is that smart.

Anonymous said...

Well, he was smart enough to realize that Ralph was lying to him and to everyone else.

Anonymous said...

I wouldn't use the word "smart" in the previous post...SMART would have been for him to have done his own research rather than follow along blindly. SMART would have been for him to go back to every household that he got a signature from and tell them the truth. No, he certainly has NOT been smart. He has however been cunning and deceptive, and will continue to be if it benefits him.

The business that Mike wants to bring into Woodbury will bring more traffic, more crime, low-paying jobs and, ultimately, a poorer quality of life. A mayor is not a supervisor. He does not have to take advice from the other members of the board. He is all powerful. Just imagine....Mike Queenan, all powerful.

Mike Queenan & Marie Hunter will lead the way. I got to get out of dodge.

Anonymous said...

Mike is lazy and self serving, Maria is ignorant and self serving.

Wow! what a combo! and this is what is leading our community?

How the hell did this happen?

To use the lanuguage of my old world grandmother... this town is full of chicanery, mollycoddling and tomfoolery! It will be interesting to see how the newly installed puppets do. And I do say puppets, from Ralph's to Mike's to Maria's. What we should do is forget the whole village thing and even the Town itself. We should start a country, a Republic of Woodbury. Take all of ojur mastermind leaders and start the Thirty two Reich.

How nice that you are trying to equate the desire to reform and get corrupt people out of our government with the REICH. (and if you don't get subtlety- that was sarcasm)

Anonymous said...

Don't you think the comment meant that our local government pushes to get those they want in for their own gain and not necessarily for the benefit of the towns people? It seems that there are many people in town who don't run for/ win positions yet they back people. Its the same people over and over again in the background. I mean, the whole nature of this website is to bash Ralph Caruso, right? It seems it. I don't really care for Caruso myself, but he's a reoccuring theme here. Same as Maria H. and Mike Queenan. What do they do? The people just voted off the town board we were lead to believe were useless. What about the ones on the town board. Skoufis is the only one I've ever seen out there doing anything. He'd make a good Mayor or Town Supervisor someday

Yes he would

I (and no doubt many others) asked him to run this year against Big Bad John but he politely and unfortunately declined. Maybe he'll run in two years.

I've also heard he's thinking about running against Nancy next year. Now THAT would be a fun race to watch!!!!

Anonymous said...

I'd pay good money to see that one. Boy they can't stand one another!

Anonymous said...

If he runs agaisnt Nancy he better watch out. All you need to do is ask the people in Blooming Grove that turned on her. Nancy is a tough woman and is very savy when it comes to politics and will toss the mud around. I agree James has done a good job but if he runs it will be a tough race. He should be okay because the idiot Sheldon Silver who controls Albany would love to take Nancy out. Also, the district lines have not even been drawn yet so who knows what the future holds for Nancy.

Nancy is done
No more double dip!

Anonymous said...

what needs to change in NY is the law that allows elected officals to double dip. Almost every elected offical in the state that can double dip does. Until the law is changed it does not matter who the elected person is they will always do it. Good luck trying to get that passed Sheldon Silver and the power players will never vote for this.
