The Uncle actually has a practical matter to discuss.
What is your cell phone company?
What reception or other problems do you have?
What do you like about it?

Verizon isn't bad for coverage (there are a few dead spots here and there). They also seem to be one of the most expensive services. Also they nickle and dime their customers, for example I have a Razr which Motorola built so that you could use any song on your phone as a ringtone. Verizon had them block that feature so that you can only add ringtones by buying them.
I have had Verizon for a long time and yes, there are some dead zones. Like, the thruway just south of Woodbury-between exits 16 and 15, calls are dropped 2 out of 3 times.
