How would I attempt to pull off the Cutie-Pie Maneuver?
I'd pick a candidate with a nice simple name (because, after all, all my little Ralphlings are nice simple people).
A name like Bob Smith or John Brown, for example.
I'd line up my Ralphlings and my allies and all their sons and daughters and cousins and neices and nephews and in-laws and such like and I'd wait until 7 or 8 PM on election day.
And then I'd send the Toad or the Ankle Biter into village hall to ask how many people have voted.
And if I found out that 200 or more folks had voted I would slink away into the darkness and wait for another day to strike.
But if I found out that only 50 or 60 or 70 folks had voted I would know that it was time to strike and I would write "Bob Smith" or "John Brown" on my little Ralphlings' palms (because, as I noted, they are but simple folk - not much brighter than, say, paramecium) and send them onwards to write in that name, copied letter by letter from their palms so they would get it exactly right, and victory would be mine.

As said before, it's a precious right that, as law abiding American citizens, we should all choose to exercise, no matter how trivial the election may seem. That is why it is terribly important that ALL registered voters go to the polls.
Agree. The last 2 Town elections in Woodbury have been very close---unfortunately, tainted by lying last minute fliers that influenced those people who received them and went out to vote not knowing that they were being lied to.
Wouldn't it be nice to see an real honest election in Woodbury? But that will only happen if people are vigilant.
Do we have a count, as of yet on how many signatures have been collected in Timber Ridge affirming that the Yellow flier influenced their vote?
Unknown.
My but we are paranoid Unk. How about 1,000 people come in to vote and then don't cast a vote for anyone. Can you say a vote of no confidence...like in your logic.
Let's see, Ralph, John and their happy band of monkeys have lied to and manipulated the voters in every election in memory and I consider the likelihood that they might just try it again - yep, sounds like paranoia to me.
Swiller is just jelous because people listen to Ralph and like him and do what he says and nobody but an idiot would listen to that fatass liar Swiller
Swiller Jealous of Ralph? Oh boy, you really did drink the Kool-aid!!!!
"People like him and do what he says"
There you have it folks, straight form the ralphlings mouth!!!!!
uk sometimes I think you are a very nasty person this comment brings me to the conclusion you are not a nice person..very very nasty... I shall now take this blog off my favorites
Nasty, nasty is he.
OK, Gollum!
Since when does speaking the truth equate to nasty?
I'm not quite certain which particular bit of nastiness you refer to, but is it anywhere near as nasty as calling me "uk"?
At least they didn't call you "yuk".
Times Herald Record today article by John Sullivan should read:
Town Clerk actually has to do some work!!!
I this is Dezire's way of saying she needs a raise because of all the work she has now, then a new Village Clerk better be hired before that cow gets another dime from this tax payer. If you can't handle it, then quit.
While I do not think she is worth the aggravation that she causes and she is not worth the money, let us not use derogatory names.
Desiree is not a cow, just a person who appears to be very self-serving and is obviously nasty and emotionally unstable(Which she had demonstrated in front of many people and on many occasions). But she is not a cow.
Why are you so concerned about calling HER names? Desiree has spread more rumors about other people and called them names!
Moooooo
Please don't insult us cows.
Ms Elsie Borden
I cant seem to find this article re: Desiree that is mentioned...does someone have it to post on here.
I'm on the other side But from an admin. perspective "Desiree" is quite competent BUT this blog has gotten old!!
I'm wondering how many of these Desiree posts were posted by people trying to distract us from the other issues. Second time now I've seen it happen, then conveniently end with someone from "the other side" talking about how "old/petty" this blog has gotten. Patterns like that suggest at least some net-baiting to me.
I don't see anything of this Sullivan article either (though the record's site has hidden stuff from me before). Can we get a link or posting?
Not trying to stifle debate, for the record. I know some people may have issues with Desiree, but I'm concerned of the possibility of some with ulterior motives to hijack the site anonymously, as the have in the past.
While I don't feel it my place to judge this particular situation, I respect the right to debate any public officials here. The article seems a good jumping off point for a civil discussion, and I still look forward to reading it.
Calling her a "cow" did cross a line, however. Attacks on people that border on abusive make us look petty on a good day, cruel on a bad day. Neither helps our cause, and I suspect the other side is more than happy to bait us into this. Even happier if we've been able to do it without their help.
how about a keg with legs??
The Uncle removed an anonymous posting aimed at a member of Ralph's family.
I didn't really see the point of it. If the poster wishes to try justify it, feel free to send an email to cuzzincookie@hotmail.com
This was the piece in the Record. At the Town Board last Thursday Desiree said that she had no problems with her work.
Overwhelmed in Woodbury
Town of Woodbury Clerk Desiree Potvin, who is also the new Village of Woodbury clerk, found herself knee-deep in handling water bills this past week because her staff is not allowed to help, she said.
The administrative conundrum proved just one of the wrinkles that have cropped up as the new village tries to take over functions of the town after village incorporation over a year ago.
That incorporation required the town to hand over its water district, as well as other roles, to the village.
An agreement between the two municipalities to share resources allows Potvin, as village clerk, to use employees from the town supervisor's office, but not from her own clerk's staff. The result? Headaches for everyone who hoped for a smoother transition of power.
"We're doing the best we can without raising the taxes for more staff," said Mayor Stephanie Berean-Weeks.
John Sullivan
Kieran is right. The name calling and the pettiness is just plain uncalled-for. However, there is nothing wrong with calling attention to the things that someone does. And many of the postings here about Desiree talk about things that MANY people have seen her do. Yes, she is competent (but the job is not THAT difficult) and yes, she is has been nasty to people and yes she DOES talk about people in an unfavorable way (especially a former female town supervisor and former town councilwoman). So, thinking about the facts, is she worth it? My answer is NO.
The former Town Supervisor and Councilwoman deserved it.
Anything you say Madame Des.
Leave Desiree to her miserable state,
Perhaps she is an terrible ingrate,
if that is so the voters will decide,
whether she is worth her false pride!
