Well, um, OK, Ralph doesn't love the Pieman.
We don't know how it happened - Did Ralph find him cheating with another main squeeze? Did a jealous Don Siebold muddy the water? Or was it just one of those things?
Who can say, but the love is gone. And when Ralph's love is gone, you're gone too.
So Ralph and the peanut gallery (Ankle Biter, Rump Roast, Mrs. Ralph) all trooped down to Village Hall and demanded that the Pieman be banished from Woodbury. Heaven forfend, a fate worse than death!
And if the Village Board shrinks from this command, well, Ralph's got his own brand spanking new Village Board waiting in the wings.
Oh what shall become of our dear Pieman? Sob, sob! Does this spell the end? Will he have to move in with John Burke? Does Burke snore? And will Amanda discover that Hermione is her long lost sister?

Swiller should have known that what Ralph does. If you stand up to him he'll threaten your job or your husband's job or you home. He is a scumbag. And that's what we'll get if his Preservation party takes over the village.

Once again the Village Board meeting was not videotaped. The Mayor, along with the board members, authorized the purchase of equipment at taxpayers expense and it is stored away.
The Mayor allowed a quasi public hearing to occur last night. She lacked the leadership to stop Ralph, Don, Carol and Jeanette from attacking a resident's request that is before the board. A possible threat of an article 78 was uttered that stopped the board dead from making a decision.
The usually verbal clerk and attorney were mute in guiding the Mayor.

So now the village hires 3 seasonal workers at $18.00 an hour for the summer to do the tasks that the water dept guys are supposed to do. Like maintenance of things, painting, mowing etc. Not 1 but 3 workers.
The damn hydrants could be painted in about 2 days if you worked at it! Tell the water guys to get off their asses and do it and be glad to have a good paying job.

Swiller has stopped KJ a number of times on annexation, on route 44, on the pipeline. Ralph wants to stop Swiller. That tells you everything that you need to know about Ralph and the agenda of the Preservation Party.
Of course protecting KJ is Ralph's agenda. Don't seem surprised. When has Ralph ever done anything to stop KJ? He tried to force Brodsky to sell his land to KJ. He's Larkin's "Community Liason" which means he's the one who funnels all those grants to KJ (and crumbs for us.
Larkin has never said no to KJ but Nancy Calhoun always does which is why Ralphg did all he could to defeat Nancy HIS OWN PARTY'S CANDIDATE.

What part of the story is made up?
Methinks having a constant source of fear hanging over the town is useful to Ralph, regardless of what he's done for KJ. Along with intimidation and threatening people's livelihood, it all fits neatly into his classy image.
While less than pleased with the Village's consultant expenses, those throwing rocks should probably look at Burke's own exhorbant spending since taking office. Or the work the man delegates to his staff, since he doesn't use a computer.

by the way..... Are there that many more hydrants this year than last? Do they all have to be painted every year? The costs of hiring even "seasonal" workers goes beyond their pay. Payments to social security, workers compensation,health insurance, and disability compounds what it costs to hire them. What public employees don't seem to understand are these costs. Taxpayers cannot afford higher taxes! That's it.
Why don't you come up with ideas to be more efficient with your time to get more done in a day? I'm willing to bet that one of these "seasonal" workers will become a full time employee because after this "season", they can't do without him.

From what I understand, if Ralph got his way Brodsky would not have been allowed to triple the number of homes. Was 451 the magic number? Why not 200, or 250, or 300, or 350, or 400? Brodsky blackmailed the Town and they caved. And he is still having money problems. Now he can sell to KJ and they will have the high density zoning, water, sewer, etc.already in place. Thanks to those who voted for this. Woodbury is not in business to make developers happy. They need to make us happy! And we are not!
What they won't have is any way to annex the property into KJ. Because of the negotiations the town now owns the land between Brodsky's parcel and the ACE farms parcel.
Which could have been done with fewer than 451 homes.
