The (Sour) Grapes of Ralph

I would like to thank all those who came out to vote in the Village of Woodbury election. I especially thank the voters who voted for the Preservation Team: Ben Meyers, George Pedersen and Fred Ungerer.

This election was riddled with misleading and outright misrepresented and undeliverable promises by the Common Sense Party. However, around 65 percent of the voters were able to see through the smoke and mirrors, with the Common Sense Party candidates being elected with around only 35 percent of the votes, clearly not a mandate.

Actually, there are 6,350 registered voters in the Village of Woodbury, with 1,298 voting in this election, about 20 percent, with and average of 470 voting for the Common Sense Party candidates. This means about 7 percent of all village registered voters elected the new mayor and two trustees.
This tells all of us that staying home and not voting is not a good idea. Why let the few tell the many how our village should be governed?

Keep an eye on your Village Board and make them accountable to you.

Ralph Caruso, Chairman
Highland Mills

Hey Mr. 7%,

Can you please pick up the political sign at the corner of Route 32 and County Route 105?
As chairman isn't it your responsibility to make sure all the signs were removed?

So Ralph, are you saying that if you or any of your candidates were to win some future election (unlikely as that may be) with less than 51% of the vote, you will demand a run-off?

By the way Unc, it should be noted that, in contrast to Ralph, the candidates - Ben Meyers, George Pedersen and Fred Ungerer wrote a very classy letter to the Photo News that deserves reprinting:

Thanks to voters who supported ‘Preservation’ team

Ben Meyers, George Pedersen and Fred Ungerer heartily thank all of you that supported us during our recent village campaign for mayor and trustees.

This was a vital campaign for the Village of Woodbury’s future. We congratulate Mr. Queenan and the “Common Sense” party’s victory, as well as Ms. Berean-Weeks and her “CommUNITY” party’s hard fought campaign.

Thank you very much, one and all, for your efforts. Respectfully,

Benjamin Meyers, George Pedersen and Fred Ungerer

C'mon Ralph!!! Dont you just get it by now. NO ONE WANTS YOU IN POWER IN THIS TOWN. Anyone that can be remotely linked to you is also poison. There is an endless list of elected officals and current and former Republican Committeemen who all started out in your corner, but ditched you, wonder why?. Jesus man, how can you be so shocked you and your guys lost? Um, when was the last time you were elected to office in this community? Oh yeah Jimmy Carter was President. And just like Carter when people really got to know you were worthless, booted your ass out of office. Time to sell that shithole of yours on DePalma and move outta town.

wonder when meyers, pedersen and ungerer will dump ralph, too

there was definitely a mandate AGAINST Ralph's team, 2/3 voted against them!!!!!

Yes, but more voted against the CommUNITY Party. How about we all play nice now. No one likes Ralph, so let him suck on his sour grapes. Too bad the rest of his party got lumped in with him. I agree with the 10:50 poster-- when will Meyers, Pedersen and Ungerer wake up? They seem decent. Time will tell.

Based on the "classy" letter from the Preservation Pary candidates, perhaps they weren't Ralph's lackeys after all; just on the ticket that Ralph is associated with. Maria Hunter is associated with the Community Party but I don't hold that against their candidates.

To the 7:42 poster guess what, Maria Hunter is not with the Community Party. I heard she was the treasurer for the Common Sense Party.

Whatever,

The analogy still stands

2/3, 7%, who cares? The bottom line is people are on the line for the coterminous promise. If this doesn't come to fruition, the Village Board and Common Sense Party is doomed. Ralph's party is next up.

Just keep watching the players-it makes for good entertainment!
