I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't one this time.
The election is in March, on a Wednesday, with no morning voting. Ralph is counting on low voter turnout.
He has a core following of about 300 votes. The anti-Preservation vote is going to be split between Stephanie and Mike. Unless there is a turnout over 900, Ralph has a good chance.
If he puts out his flyers he'll remind people to vote, including those who will vote against him, so he may just sit quietly.
That's why it's so important to go vote and to get everyone you know to vote.
Remember the Chicago way, Vote early and vote often.

Queenan must be pretty confident that he'll be Mayor- afterall, he appears to have already started negotiating on behalf of the Village! Can we say EGO???

Who spoke to Calhoun from the Village? And what "special legislation" passes all the time? Last I heard, Calhoun couldn't even get the two pieces that Woodbury asked for before to the floor? This sounds like more of that Republican rhetoric...leave out key words (much like the Common Sense Party has done throughout their campaign) just to misguide the public. TYPICAL!

I think the record did a piece on special legislation on how many got presented and the results from our local elected official. Everyone try to find it in the Record. ALL THIS is just a zoning distraction!!!! Ask SWILLER, he's trying to get 40homes rezoned from SEASONAL TO YEAR ROUND
Swiller is just mad at Ralph for questioning him at the Village meeting. And yes, Queenan was part of that meeting where everyone thought a village would prevent annexation. The Preservation Party, Community Party, and Common Sense Party were not in existence at that time. the part about purposely not putting it in print? Probably not in print because they never said it.
I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything. I am just reminding them of what the Preservationists said about annexation and pointing out that they are now pretending they didn't say it.
If voters remember Ralph's lies they don't need to be convinced of anything. They just need to go vote.

There was no Preservation Party until the first Village election, way after Ralph (and Mike and countless others) claimed that the Village would prevent annexation. All parties were wrong and were set straight back in 2004. So why keep rehashing it? You and Ralph (not the people running on the Preservation Party ticket) should duke it out and leave the rest of us out of it.
1. The Committee For the Preservation of Woodbury (now frequently referred to as the Preservation Party) was around before the Village was.
2. In my letter I said "it was members of the Preservation Party themselves who widely spread this false information when they were attempting to frighten Woodbury into voting to form a village." Those people were around, spreading misinformation, long before they picked any particular name for their scheme.
3. Yes, many people were wrong about annexation back in 2004, and yes, the real facts came out. That makes it even more dispicable that Ralph and his crew continued to spread false information in 2006 and 2007.
4. You say that I "and Ralph should duke it out and leave the rest of us out of it." I would like nothing better. But Ralph is the head of the Preservation Party and to pretend that he has nothing to do with the current election is as dishonest as pretending that the Preservation Party didn't willfully lie to us all to frighten us into forming a village.
Kind of like the developers frightening the town board?
They are now calling themselves Citizens For the Preservation of Woodbury, not Committee. My mistake.

I am not a fan of Ralph, but I don't know anyone (from anywhere) who told me the lies you say he and his people said. I have spoken to many people in town, and they don't remember, either. Seems like no matter what anyone from the Preservation Party says, you are going to stick to your guns. They are damned if they printed it and they are damned because they didn't. I think you are full of paranoia and need to get all the facts --not what happened in the past, but what is happening right now. Your blogs tell me that you really don;t have a clue about certain issues. On others you are well-versed. I am an active community member, but I take anything anyone running for office says with a grain of salt. Two parties are composed of seasoned politicians. One is a newcomer. Hindsight is 20/20 and it is easy to criticize others. I give credit to all the candidates for giving a damn. Whoever wins, I am optimistic that Woodbury will survive.

If you never heard Caruso's people make the false claim that forming a village would prevent annexation, then it should play no part in your voting decision.

I am not a fan of ralph because he acts like he knows everything, you can't tell him anything, he is paranoid, and he never says he is sorry. I don't know him well, he's more of an acquaintance, but I don't think I would want to socialize with him. I only know him because he has a daughter the same age as mine and we live fairly close.

Ineffective leadership was demonstrated at the last Village board meeting:
The mayor allows 4 people to speak during an agenda item discussion, sounds like an illegal public hearing occurred.
The village attorney, village clerk and remaining board members sat mute while Stephanie allowed the speakers to make their accusations and threats.
When you read all this hate for each other you can't blame Mike A and the others for taking the money and running away!

Its time for CHANGE, Ralph's group will fight KJ and not let them do what ever they want with law suit after to law suit. That will cost every taxpayer more money. They will cut the Police Force by half, take over the Highway Department then cut that group in half. The Water Department will be cut in half and no more new Trucks! No one will get overtime! The builders will sell to KJ because there will be no more deals and then more lawsuits. Preservation Team, CommUNITY Team, and Common Sense Team have absolutely nothing to do with KJ. I think this is one area where they all agree. Larkin has nothing to do with any of the parties. You are making sweeping generalizations with absolutely no facts. Never did I hear any candidate from any party say they would cut departments. Is this another one of those things that no one put in writing so it couldn't be proved? The point of the late hitting lie is to put out an accusatory flier so late in the game that the target has no way to answer.
The accused candidate would have to write a response, print it and distribute it as widely as the original attack. When the attack comes the night before the election there is no time for the rebuttal.
What is true of paper fliers is not true of this site. Any comment, accusation, smear or expose can be responded to in an instant and reach precisely the same audience as the original claim.
As to the credibility of either the charge or the response, that is, as always, left to the reader to decide.
