What About That Other Village Slouching Towards Woodbury To Be Born

OK, the Uncle has told us a horror story about the Village of Woodbury, but if we vote no, what about the dreaded Village of KJ jr?

It could happen.

That is so.

The Pie Man claims that he has an Up-against-the-wall-If-All-Else-Fails-What-the-hell-we're-all-doomed-anyway Plan that's crazy enough that it might just work.

But that's no guarantee.

So, how likely is a Village of KJ jr?

The Uncle, the Pie Man and the mysterious Mr. Zed all say "It could happen, but don't count on it."

Why not?

Szegedin's first choice is annexation.

A nice big chunk, right into his hands.

A KJ jr wouldn't exactly be his.

Remember, Ralph Caruso got one Woodbury Town Board member elected after another.

And, once in office, one after another escaped his clammy grip.

KJ jr would require it's own board. The village and it's board would owe their existences to Grampa Gedalye. But, little by little, they might just find their own way in this world.

Grampa might hold back on Jr's allowance. He might order Jr to bed with no dinner. But he can never be absolutely sure that Jr won't climb out the bedroom window, keys to the family Chevy in hand.

Not only that. A village, Sr or Jr, needs well disciplined voters to keep things going the way Grampa wants.

Back home he sees his majority becoming thinner and thinner. The dissidents are growing. Some say an honest vote would show they are the real majority already.

How many trained and disciplined voters can Szegedin spare to hold the natives in check in the new village when things at home are already so tenuous?

And, none, none of these problems would be confronted with a nice clean annexation.

So, is a KJ jr impossible? Nope. But it sure isn't choice number one.

I still say that anything that R Caruso is involved in cannot be good. I plan on voting NO, and pray that I am in the majority!

I just went and voted at exactly noon, and i thought i was going to be the first person on line, turns out I waited outside on line almost to the old firehouse.

Regardless, it is good to see the people of this town are taking today’s vote very seriously and are participating in the democratic process.

This without a doubt is probably the most important decision facing this community since it was broken off from Monroe and formed in 1889.

To the previous anonymous poster. While i think all in this community know Ralph and I don’t see eye to eye on much, today’s vote should not be a referendum on him, anyone on the yes side, or anyone on the no side.

Today’s vote is about our town and the direction we chose to go in to protect it and it's territory from encroachment by any neighboring town or village.

Today’s vote should also not be about KJ. Do not let fears of annexation or formation of little KJ's cloud your judgment.

I voted NO today, not because Ralph Caruso is on the yes side, or because of KJ. I voted NO, because I believe that Mr. Caruso and his committee failed miserably in any attempt to properly educate we the people of this community about today’s vote or the REAL impacts this village will have on our way of life and our cherished services.

I want more information. I don’t want smoke in mirrors rhetoric. I want real budget figures, taking ALL potential situations in to account. I want to know who will be in control of what, town or village.

We need a real serious discussion with some real experts on this matter. Voting NO today allows us more time to do that and to reconsider where we should go.

Decisions of this magnitude should not be made in the way we are being forced to do so, based on fear, emotion, prejudice, and misinformation.

Vote NO today...we still have time to make a properly informed decision at a later date

Mr. Booth- Although I agree with your reasoning to a point, I must say that a NO vote is most definitely tied to a referendum AGAINST Mr. Caruso. Everything about this village, from the original petition drive to today's vote was at his direction. If he was half the man he portrays himself to be, he would have seen to it that from the moment the petition was written, he would have engaged the most highly respected AUTHORITIES for their opinions and then relayed that information to the public at large. But no, he did the exact opposite. He and his little group were too busy trying to brow-beat Roxanne Donnery and Sheila Conroy and Geri Gianzero, and did NOTHING to educate the public. Instead of getting into bed with the Democrats, if for one second Ralph would have taken himself off of his self-made pedestal, and actually CARED about the Town of Woodbury, perhaps he would have spent some time putting together the FACTS, instead of that hastily produced rag sheet with imaginary numbers. He makes me absolutely sick to my stomach, and as said before, I will continue to vote against anything he has his filthy little hands into!

I must say first and foremost shame on DON SIEBOLD...do you really have to have your car PARKED RIGHT ON 32 with a vote yes sign on it near where people are standing online???

This just goes to show how dispicable of an individual you and the rest of the Ralphlings really are! I even hear Don is near the line talking to people. Give it up!!! The people are now deciding the fate of this town, they dont need ANYONE pro or con twisitng their arms.

I thought it was ILLEGAL to have persuasive or suggestive voting material within 100 ft?? How come no one is enforcing that?? What is even sadder about this vote is that I've heard intelligent people stating that voting yes means we have stopped KJ!!! They are actually believing Ralph's bullshit!!

The vehicle was measured, at 119 feet away, it was legal.

Sad that Ralphie's little group of slobbering hyenas feel compelled to always walk so close to the line. Goes to show that they're never really 100% confident in their ass of a leader.

Jim, were you when we needed you? Before the vote, to get the word out?

I think Jim would be a wonderful candidate for the new Village board or as Mayor. He is honest and does his homework. I'll even carry petitions for you Jim!

Personally, I'd like to see James Galvin back on a board.
