Woowoo Hot Stuff!!

This is what SOCA at Work is distributing around Woodbury. Woowoo Hot Stuff!!
SOCA at Work
You Decide
Next Tuesday, voters in Woodbury have the opportunity not only to decide an election, they get to decide what election campaigns will be like for years to come.
You decide if you want politicians to tell you the truth, even when it is unpleasant or to lie to you and treat you like fools.

As you know, last Thursday the Town Board voted on the WP3 (Brodsky) project. They could have delayed the vote until after the election, but they refused to allow politics to effect town business, and, they wanted you to know where they stood so you could make an informed choice. That took guts.

If you vote against them, no politician in Woodbury will ever again be stupid enough to tell you the truth.

Caruso, Burke, Reveille and Sullivan have lied to you daily:

They have said the Brodsky project is high density. It isn’t
1 house per acre is not high density.

They claim that this project violates the Master Plan. It doesn’t.
The Master Plan calls for "suburban density" (3/4 acre to 1 acre per house), if water and sewer are added - they are.

They have said that Brodsky was "blackmailing" the town. He isn’t.
Even John Baranowsky, who backs Burke and Caruso, says that Brodsky did not threaten to sell the land to KJ. We all know that if he can’t build he would have no choice but to sell to the highest bidder,

They say the project was "rushed through." It wasn’t. If Sheila had wanted to rush this project it could have been done weeks earlier, then it would not have been voted on the week of the election. But, as we said, the Board refused to let politics influence their actions.

Darleen Reveille lied about her work experience, in her campaign literature, to make it sound a lot better than it was. When she was caught she complained to the police that she was being harassed.

Ralph Caruso lied about the cost of the land involved. When he was caught he tried to intimidate his accuser.

The last time he ran, John Burke lied about having the backing of the Conservative party. When he was caught he was forced to leave the race.

These people hint that they will overturn the Board decision. What they don’t tell you is that the decision was based on the New York SEQRA law and that if they deny the application the Town will be sued, we will spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on lawyers and we will lose the case.

They accuse the Board of taking bribes. That’s a total lie.
Away from the cameras, Sullivan and Reveille have pushed this garbage. But, if there was any truth to it they should go to the police. They don’t. It’s a lie.

These people have gone to the lie first, last and always.

If they win then every politician will know that the way to win in Woodbury is to lie your ass off.

No one wants to hear people they know be accused of lying. We know that. By being this blunt we put our organization right in the line of fire. So be it, the stakes are too high to hide. We have no choice.

The alternative is to be quiet and see our Town be destroyed. Make no mistake. The future of Woodbury is on the line.

Choose!

why is it so bad if people from kj move onto the brodsky property?

what is wrong with those people?

i ask all the jews are vehemently opposed to satmars moving into woodbury to look up the names of their great grandparents and great-great grandparents.

imagine if the people of an eastern european town, maybe in poland or russia, fought tooth and nail against the growth of your great grandparent's generation.

they felt your great grandmother was a parasite on their community, not using their schools or eating their food, clogging up their dirt roads, and practicing strange beliefs.

they had to be stopped before they took over.

they were different. they had to be corrupt. they must've had money too since they kept reproducing. they made deals with government officials.

and today these people are still the same. wanting water despite the trouble it would cause their neighbors. wanting to build housing even though their neighbors don't want them here. and they keep growing.

they have to be stopped before they take over.

thank god for people like DONNERY, CONROY, GIANZERO AND QUEENAN. they will stop these strange jews and their desires for a better life in OUR backyard.

Gee, should the Uncle go to the police and have Ari and Bob arrested?

As to proof that Szegedin's henchmen are using the blog to spread lies against those four? Isn't that what all of you are now proving?

Uncle Betty, I believe you when you say who these people are. They seem to believe they are better than everyone else not living in there community, otherwise they wouldn't write with such vengeance and ferocity. They seem like THEIR hearts are full of hatred for all of us not within their paradoxical confines.

Do this Felberman and Lawrence get paid to be so obnoxious? If so, maybe Ralph,Don and Aronowitz could sign up for the jobs.

I saw Sheila and Gerri at the post office today. They were handing out their cards and a letter. I have to give these two ladies credit. They could have made their decision on WP3 after the election which they would have easily one, but instead they had the balls to vote on the project before. I am not all warm and fuzzy about the WP3 project like most of us are not, but I am willing to give it a second look because I believe our town board would never sell out or jeopardize the town. We have to accept that property in Woodbury is a hot commodity to developers and KJ. Who do we want building on the land? The one fact to keep in mind is that it will be built on. I recieved a letter about a week ago in the mail written by a group that calls themselves the Concerned Citizens of Woodbury. I read all six pages and finally understood the true impact to our community if Brodsky builds versus KJ buying and annexing the land( if you think they would purchase the land and build according to our zoning whether it be one or two acre zoning, we are fooling ourselves). The land WILL be annexed into the village of KJ and we will be looking at high density housing. I have a friend that lives on Serpi Drive and she would give anything at this point to have a developer like Brodsky purchase the land around her home. Reality is that the land surrounding her neighborhood is owned by KJ. She has hasidic neighbors and they all live peacefully. The point I am trying to make after talking to her and to Sheila and Gerri is that we all agree no one is trying to keep the Satmar Jews out we just want our half, one and two acre zoning to remain. NO HIGH DENSITY HOUSING IN WOODBURY. I consider high density housing to mean multiple units per acre, like Timber Ridge or Woodbury Heights. I applaud the Twon Board, keep up the good work and I will be voting for Sheils, Gerri and Mike on election day. Thank you for all you do.

i have documents that link brodsky's right hand man to the nyc's homeless services dept which recently had talks with diana about camp laguardia

there is a reason diana & conroy are keeping mum about laguardia & WP3

and there's a reason it will only have one access road

because the county can only afford one secured checkpoint entrance to this "gated" community

And Brodsky wasnt at the board meeting by prior arrangement? Because usually he's always there? You have to be Mullooly. No one else is that stupid!

WHAT? you again?? As stated in another section of this blog, this is not a genuine comparison.
How can you possible compare anything in the Town currently with the development style that is used in the village? How can you compare and ISOLATED, CLOSED society with the melting pot of Woodbury. STOP your stupid dance, the "Twist and Skew"!!!

i could only imagine the charges that can be brought against a supervisor and councilwomen who think & act in the same way???

maybe instead of fearing them, you could learn something from them

Choose experience
In Woodbury, Supervisor Sheila Conroy and Town Councilwoman Gerri Gianzero are running for re-election on the Republican and Conservative lines. Their running mate, also seeking a seat on the Town Council, is Mike Queenan, currently head of the town Planning Board. The three of them have over 30 years combined experience in town planning and government. Their four opponents (three on the Democratic line and one minor party candidate) have no experience nor have any of them ever volunteered to serve on any town board, committee, commission or panel.
Were their opponents to be elected, Woodbury would find itself run by novices, in over their heads, at a critical time. Conroy, Gianzero and Queenan represent experience, integrity and professionalism and SOCA At Work fully endorses them.

Hey Guy from Chester- try reading today's Times Healrd Record (that is if you know how to read) and you'll see that not only is Eddie Diana talking to NYC about Camp Laguadia, he's talking to them about making it safer moron, not about moving it or starting a new one. Not only are Sheila Gerri and Mike taking bribes, they are also plotting with martians trying to take over Woodbury. Sheila was seen at the Wal mart taking some kind of radioactive bar from a martian and putting it in the trunk of her car where she also stashed that loud mouth idiot Carol M. The plan was to exchange Carol for the plutonium so that the martians can study the lower links in the evolutionary process.
Cerainly not intelligent design!

And if you believe that one....

Added note: Carol jumped out of the trunk as the exchange was about to take place She ran away and was able to place a flyer in some poor old man's hand as he carried three bags of groceries to his car.

Timew Herald-Record
Letters to the editor for November 7, 2005

Worse off under Bush
The Clinton administration was vilified for adultery and misappropriation of travel funds. They were wrong. Since that time, the administration that was going to bring honor back to Washington has:
- Used political pressures to "win" the 2000 election.
- Lied to us in order to go to war with Iraq.
- Given billions of our dollars to Halliburton in no-bid contracts.
- Given subsidies to the oil industry, who just keep on setting new record profits without ever building the new refineries that they need to keep up with our fuel demands.
- Outed a CIA operative.
To all the Bush supporters that regularly write in, please tell me where my error is. The country and the world are worse today than when George W. took over. Instead of blind party loyalty, use your own brains to decide who should best serve our needs on Election Day. Think before you vote.

Let's eradicate poverty
"Of all pollutions we face, the worst is poverty." – Indira Ghandi.
I thank Mr. Kristof for writing a much-needed editorial on the continuing tragedy of global poverty, which I believe to be the most significant problem our interconnected global community faces today ("Year after year, grave after grave," Opinion, Times-Herald Record, Oct. 17).
According to the American Jewish World Service (AJWS Reports, Summer 2005), 1 billion people earn less than $1 a day, and the richest 1 percent of the world population owns as much wealth as the poorest 57 percent. The good news is that we can put an end to extreme poverty within the next generation if we can convince our government to increase the amount of the national income spent on helping developing nations from its current 0.16 percent to 0.7 percent to match the percentage pledged by other rich countries. I believe that efforts made to reduce global poverty will go a long way in helping to fight global terrorism, genocide and war.
As we approach the season of Thanksgiving, let us eradicate global poverty once and for all.

Women still held back
Gender inequality has existed from the beginning of mankind. We have seen a decrease over the past several decades, yet it is still prevalent in today's societies. Men and women are receiving unequal pay in the job force and men are maintaining higher positions in employment (as) opposed to women who are being held back by the glass ceiling created by their living society.
As a woman reaching the end of my college years, I am becoming more aware and concerned with this issue. Our culture's norm is to attend college and expand our knowledge so we can lead a successful life. By doing so, men and women are receiving an equal education. How can both genders receive equal education, yet not receive equal employment and pay? Men and women have voted together on laws to prevent situations like this from happening. Yet gender inequality still exists and men have the upper hand.
What can our society do in order to prevent further gender inequalities in the job force and pay?

Parks deserves tribute
So many times in our society we pay tribute to those that achieve fame simply because they are famous and not because they have done something of note or of value for humanity. Rosa Parks did something of note. She did something that eventually served humanity. She opened a door and showed us what we should be and what we shouldn't be. She simply sat down and demanded to be observed as a human being, no better or no worse than anyone else.
Her actions stated that because of the color of her skin she should not be perceived as a lesser human being. For that simple action by a seamstress, she should be revered as an icon of humanity and how justice, when pursued, can be achieved.
I for one will sit down with my grandchildren and point out a true hero and explain to them why she was one. Rest in peace, Rosa, and thank you.

More readers comments on Warwick school paper

Your article regarding the controversial ad placed in the Warwick Valley High School newspaper noted that "the district was pulling the ad for future issues." Those opposed to the ad thought it "undercut" the military. Yes, it definitely discouraged enlistment, but recruiters at the school encourage enlistment every day.
Isn't representing all conflicting view points, pro- or anti-government, essential to teaching students about one of their most fundamental rights – free speech? Adams, the school nurse who supported the removal of the ad, remarked, "I refuse to believe what the ad says." That's the beauty of democracy, Mrs. Adams. You don't have to. You are free to disagree with the ad, just like the student should be free to run it. He is exercising the same right as you by refusing to believe in policies that do not reflect his values. The Warwick School District cannot allow recruiters to promote their views while silencing their own students. Do they want to endorse a society in which the military is all-powerful and citizens are not permitted to voice dissent?
Congratulations to Denise Markt and Randy Barbarash for upholding democratic ideals and journalistic freedom. Your students will learn from your example.

I am writing in support of the Warwick Valley High School student who took out the controversial "You Can't Be All You Can Be if You're Dead" ad in the school newspaper. Despite what I read in the Times Herald-Record, I do not think it's an insult to the brave people who serve in our armed forces. It is simply pointing out that there are alternatives to joining the army or another branch of the military.
Further, I disagree with Capt. William Bliss' assessment that the ad is misleading. Are there no alternatives to joining the military? Can you reach your full potential if you're dead? Are there no other ways to serve your country? What's misleading about it? I'm glad that Principal Barbarash and the paper's faculty adviser gave approval for the ad.
By doing so, they encouraged free speech, thoughtful discussion, and – just possibly – a bit of openness on both sides of the issue.

I find the controversy over the anti-military ad in the Warwick Valley High School newspaper troubling. As a veteran, I find it puzzling that those who would claim the mantle of patriotism seek to limit the freedoms guaranteed by our Constitution. The ad makes no statement that is not factually true.
If one chooses military service, one risks one's life in that service. Accepting that risk knowingly and defending all Americans, regardless of their differences, renders nobility to military service. Please do not dishonor the sacrifice of the men and women who have died for their country by seeking to limit the very freedoms for which they have laid down their lives.
As long as the school newspaper accepts advertising from competing views, this ad should not be suppressed. If military recruitment is allowed at the school, then alternate viewpoints must also be allowed. If one truly believes in freedom of speech, that means allowing the expression of opinions that are in total opposition to everything one holds dear.
Servicemen and women swear an oath to defend the Constitution, and we should not seek to undermine their service by opposing the freedoms they secure for us all.

In regard to the student at Warwick Valley High School who had his ad pulled from the school newspaper … it was brilliant! The Record should print the ad gratis for a few weeks. Show the school administrators what free speech is all about.
