“Take It Like A Dog”

Burke and his partners believe they have gotten away with this.

They are sure that eventually it will blow over and that the people of Timber Ridge and Woodbury as a whole will do what an anonymous Burke supporter has predicted and "take it like a dog."

Maybe he’s right

and

maybe he’s wrong.

That’s up to the folks that were lied to.

If they let it pass, stay home and say nothing then Burke wins.

If they refuse to "take it like a dog," show up at Town Hall at the next board meeting and the next after that and the one after that and keep coming, and refuse to roll over and play dead, then Burke will have gotten away with nothing. His great victory will be empty.

It actually does matter.

And it’s entirely up to you.

Unc,
I love you like a brother (or at least like an uncle), but in one way the Ralphlings are right. There is a very limited audience for this blog.
I don't know if you can track this, but how many people actually come here and read what we all have to say?
Is it just a few dozen?
If people care about Woodbury, yes they have to come to board meetings, and to the Democratic Committee meeting next week, but at the very least, they should be telling everyone they know about this blog so that more and more people of Woodbury can take part in this discussion.

How short are people's memories. Back in the days when meetings just started to be televised---around 2001--Burke, Serra, Sullivan, Caruso, Siebold and a few others used it to take public pot shots at Ted Jones, John Keleman, James Galvin, Lorraine McNeill. These Board members had not won by sending out lying campaign literature--they simply didn't see things the way this above group did and were independent of them.

Then, after the 2001 election, Burke, Serra and company took over the Democratic Committee. Attacks at Televised Town Board meetings increased. In fact, Conroy was attacked by Serra at her first meeting. Mulolley showed up and others---all orchestrated by either the Democrats under Burke and Serra or the Republicans under Caruso. Again, the Board did not win by distributing dirty campaign fliers or any corrupt acts---they just weren't part of these 2 groups.

Personally, I don't like to watch such nonsense. But one begins to see a pattern after awhile. Burke built himself up by having his supporters attack at almost every meeting (I'm told only the televised ones). Although he never had any suggestions for solving the "problems" raised, he accused the Board of doing a poor job.

He won his first election with dirty campaign flyers, again sent out the day before the election with crazy accusations about all kinds of rezoning for high density housing---none of which was true. But it scared people.

Nothing happened to him and he was not called out on this because the flyers had no author, but certainly came from his supporters since he benefited from them.

So a successful tactic of lying about your opponents is pulled out again for this election. Heck, why not? It worked last time and there were no consequences. The difference this time is that the flyers were signed.

If there are no consequences, this behavior will continue.

The very behavior that Burke has used to get elected has now come back at him. No one should feel sorry for him. He is simply getting back what he has dished out to others and gotten away with it far too long.

But you are right, Uncle Betty, if people forget about it, which is what Burke and team are hoping will happen, then it will continue.

Do we really want people who will lie to us to get elected to govern us? What does that say about us?

Please don't misunderstand, I agree with you, but we both know that nothing will happen! Swiller will keep complaining, people will continue to write on this blog, people will go to the meeting on the 26th and demand justice, but in the end, NOTHING will happen and you know it. Were stuck with this crew, lets not forget this when the next election comes!

But, we already forgot about the previous election and the lies aimed at Sheila Conroy that won Burke his office.

You can decide that nothing will happen and it is guaranteed that you will be right. Or you can act as if something may change and be pleasantly surprised.

“Impossible” is a word to use when you are too tired to try.

I hear you John S., but I'm done with it, good luck, hope for good things and justice, I've decided its time this ole man to move on, I'm hoping this market will be kind to me and my home will sell quick.

GOOD LUCK!!

If Burke and his friends think that we should take it like a dog, maybe he should learn that dogs bite.

Our only defeat will be in NOT trying. There are some of those taht are no longer ready to accept "business as usual", for we see the darkest parts of John and his friends ruining Woodbury!

If you want to sell your home fast, why don't you call carol m. ask for the yellow paper and make up about 1000 home for sale fliers and place them all over KJ, someone will be over within two days!!!

Sad to think that people with the brains (or lack thereof) of a Carol Mulluloy have helped decide the fate of Woodbury.

Yeah, people, just complain about it on a blog, sit on your asses and do nothing.
OR
Speak up and have your voices heard, when people do that things DO get done. Grass roots activism is the only way to make changes!!!!

The residents of Woodbury need to wake up and realize that like Ralph, John and the Dems are banking on the fact that people won't pay attention, and then they will slither into office until they occupy every seat on every board, and then ultimately rule the town. Is this the plague that one speaks of on another thread?

Face it, most people in Woodbury, don't know what it happening, and most don't really give a shit, they go to work, drive home, drive thier kids from one place to another, try to enjoy thier limited time off and don't want to hear Swiller and Co. cry about dirty small town politics, Swiller, How many people live in Woodbury? How many registered voters in town? How many voted?? and other then a small group of your supporters, Who is really listening, what are they really doing other then reading and agreeing with your blogs? and who is going to come to your aid? the answer in nobody! Good cause Swiller, but you need to find another way! I'm not saying give up, But find another way! several people support your cause and the information you put out, you calm victory, you show examples of holding those in power responsible, but still nothing has changed, in fact, it has gotten worse, FIND ANOTHER WAY!

Anonymous said...

grass roots, what bullshit!!

Anonymous said...

Another way?

How about an intelligence test for voters? Those with an IQ under 90 can't vote. Oh wait, then Ralph, Don Siebold, Bob Donnelly, Carol Mullolly and their ilk would not be able to vote! Bad for them, great for us!

Uncle Betty said...

I'd be satisfied if we started with an intelligence test for candidates.

Anonymous said...

How about an IQ test for you uncle.

To the blogger that mentions the following, Conroy, Keleman, Galvin, McNeill, Ted Jones, what do they all have in common?...

They are all now out of office or will be soon and Burke, Serra, Sullivan, Caruso, Mulolley and Siebold are all still here. So who do you think is really better at spreading around the bull? Swiller and Co. or the merry band of idiots that currently have control of the Town and whisper in Telfon Johns ear. FIND ANOTHER WAY!

Anonymous said...

I have no argument that the people you say "are still here" are better than I am at "spreading around the bull." That was never my goal.
Yes Conroy and McNeill are out of office. Ted Jones is retired and I really don't much know Keleman or Galvin. Of the elected officials that I have supported, Gianzero, Weeks, Kling, Crouse, Queenan, Stabile and Kinney are in office, and from your list Serra, Sullivan, Caruso, Mulolley and Siebold are not.
As to finding another way, I'm open to suggestions, but for now I will keep pushing the idea that people should be involved, pay attention and check out the things that they are told - by everyone, including by me.

Anonymous said...

Swiller, you fans calm the your not only needed, but also smart, why would need help from anyone else, why would you want suggestions, use your own brain and FIND ANOTHER WAY! it's not a riddle Jon.

Anonymous said...

I don't think that you are illiterate, so I'm guessing that English is not your first language, in fact it might be your third, after Yiddish and Hungarian. Is that the case?
I'm just curious. I'm happy to get advice from anyone. But if you are from KJ, why not say so and be more specific about what you think another way ought to be?
As to why I would need help or suggestions, everyone in the world can use those. And I would guess that if someone really is smart than he would know that he could use help. Thinking that you know everything and that you can do it all alone is the opposite of smart.

Anonymous said...

Swiller, I'm not the person who is telling you to find another way, but I've noticed that whenever someone who blogs in questions what you do, challenges you or disagrees with you, you're very quick with the negative comebacks and state what and who you have supported, Sorry Jon, but you do come off like a know it all!

Anonymous said...

In what way was my response negative?
I noted that the spelling and grammar were way off, but that the position was thought out. This leads me to believe that the writer is intelligent, but that English is not his first language.
I'm guessing (and may be wrong) that the writer is Satmar. I don't consider this to be a negative either. I have worked with many people from Kiryas Joel who are trying to bring honest government to that village.
I thought that I had made both those points clear. Where is the negativity?

Swiller, I would like to help your cause, I will be out of town for the next few days and unable to attend the meeting, but will contact you in person when I get back, I do know where to find you, and yes, you will be surprised!

Anonymous said...

Okiedoke.

Swiller, after reading your answer to another bloggers question, I would like to educate you in reality, Gianzero, (not running again) Kling and Weeks,(probably not running again, both are too smart to put up with all this thankless bullshit) Queenan, they'll get him next time, he's the next target, Stabile, if there is a conflict with hubbys position, she's gone, Kinney ??? Crouse is a good man, but does he have it in him, will see. better start looking for some new people who will listen to you or contact a real estate person real soon.

You're statements are without merit. Unlike Caruso, Swiller doens't try to "control" anyone. The people you listed are good, dedicated people without agendas, and to your surprise, there are others like them in our community. Keep your ear to the ground and listen for the rising swell of those very people to wash over all this nonsense, and kick Ralph and his groupies to the curb!

Anonymous said...

keep tellin yourself that, Swiller does have a personal agenda! Open you eyes.

Kieran Conroy said...

From years of seeing him in action, I'd say Jonathan totally has an agenda. First it involves staying up really late during any major crisis posting information to uncle betty and drumming up debates surrounding issues.

Then it involves pouring all of his personal funds into factual fliers and petitions surrounding big issues (like the gonzaga towers, pipline and village election).

Lastly he goes on huge 40 day fasts from food and water, not having time for meals 'cause of all the meetings he attends. He pushes his dehydration tolerance to its limits from yelling at dirty politicians and demanding facts.

Finally, deprived of wealth, food and the limitations of normal reality provided by a full night's sleep, Swiller will ascend to god-hood and control all our brains! Muhahaha!!

Or maybe I'm just sleep deprived from finals... It STILL makes more sense than all the vague crap people keep refusing to back-up around here.
